I’ve posted a video sharing 20 road trip hacks so I thought it was probably a good idea to share them over here on the blog! This year we took our 2 children on our 5th road trip which we feel incredibly lucky to have been able to do. Over the years we’ve gained quite a lot of experience as to how to survive a road trip with kids and lots of travel hacks to make it all easier for everyone involved!

Road Trip Travel Hacks
Burn off as much steam as possible before your journey
Have a secret tin of little toys to surprise them with; it’s always good to have some fun road trip activities for kids planned for when your journey takes longer than you expected.
Jump out of the car and see what you can find nearby – there’s usually something you can explore
Get a larger car for all the bags you gather along the way!

Use craft boxes for snacks – some great ideas on Pinterest for these.
Bring home comforts – pillows and teddies.
Pack a picnic so you don’t have to stop so often and spend lots of money.
Pack a first aid kit.

May 31, 2019The magnetic boxes are a great idea and I love the snack caddy. I’ve been cautious about taking mine anywhere longer than an hour on my own but I feel armed with ideas now 🙂

May 27, 2019Hi Lara,
Thank you for sharing these ideas. Indeed the list is never complete without a set of toys.
Toys are fun and fun is important for a good road trip with the kids.
I never forget to bring my son’s Dinosaur Travel tray on any trip.
