It’s the end of half term, sob! We’ve had such a brilliant week. I’ve loved having Henry around to make memories with and George has come on so much being around him every day. I felt like this half term was the first break in school where I’ve actually appreciated it for what it is. The first mid term break was all a bit of a blur and then of course Christmas goes by in the flash of an eye and the sparkle of a bauble. So it was so enjoyable having quality time with the boys and I can’t wait until Easter now!
Yesterday we headed out to get some fresh air to feed the ducks at one of our favourite places, Alresford. For me, the actual process of feeding the ducks is usually wracked with fear that the children might actually land in the water with them! It’s not entirely unfounded, Henry and I did once fall in a very fast flowing river during a holiday to Cornwall, and the although we laughed hysterically in hindsight, the experience has stayed with me and I’ve become very fearful of them being near the water along a river bank. The children tend to use their full bodies to maximise velocity when throwing in food to the water, and I have visions of them toppling in during the exaggerated movement. I guess it’s only natural to fear something like that around children, but I always seem to forget this thought process when we excitedly head out the door in search of hungry ducks and then spend the entirety of the trip holding on to hoods and wishing it was over!
So it’s back to school today, and wishing and waiting until the weekend ahead arrives so that we can get back together to head out for more fun. Although I might give the ducks a miss this time!
