Today is Henry’s last day of pre-school and in 6 short weeks we are entering a new era…SCHOOL!! You may know from my Instagram or previous blog posts, that I pledged this time last year to make the most of every day with my best friend before he leaves me to start a new chapter at school and making sure we had a whole lot of fun with a set of pre-school adventures. With the new term lingering in the air I am determined to make the summer holiday as much fun for him as possible, and I wanted to share some summer holiday activities for kids if you are also entering this 6 weeks and in need of some inspiration for fun activities for your children!

- Get some swimming lessons or visit the local swimming pool
- Go on a mystery bus journey (don’t get lost though!)
- Go for a picnic
- Bake a cake

- Find a local splash park
- Visit the library for books on starting school
- Visit a local Gruffalo trail

- Join in National Play Day (6th Aug)
- Go on a nature hunt and create some art with your collection
- Go raspberry picking (strawberries are all gone by now!)
- Build a den and watch a movie with popcorn
- Make a bug hotel
- Go camping in the back garden

- Meet Dad for lunch
- Watch a film at the cinema
- Hold a summer tea party for all the new school friends
- Go to the beach – rain or shine!

- Decorate a t-shirt with fabric pens and glue on decorations
- Make slime!
- Make a fairy village out of a shoe box and things from the garden
- Learn to ride a bike or something else you’ve not mastered yet.

I hope these Summer Holiday Activities give you inspiration for this summer holiday – whether your child is just starting school and you want to plan a bucket list, or if your children are already at school, hopefully this has given you some ideas to fill the summer holidays with activities. Good luck to all the parents who are doing the school holiday childcare struggle, it’s going to be a busy 6 weeks!
