Secondhand and slow fashion has become very popular with consumers and not only is it having a positive impact on the environment, but also on people’s wallets! Many people today have excess products lying in their wardrobe, things they no longer wear which are cluttering up their homes and especially whilst the charity shops were closed they were looking for ways to resell them or upcycle in many ways. If you intend to resell your clothing and other products you can make use of selling apps that allow you to easily snap pictures, upload them and sell your clothing quickly and conveniently. Vinted is one of the many selling apps that you can find on the app store and one I’ve used many times myself.
So, if you’re looking to declutter your things and make some money in the process, I thought I’d share a post showing how to buy and how to make money on Vinted in an easy way for anyone looking to do so.
While there are various other similar apps like Depop that you can use, Vinted offers a really good buying and selling experience which I have found really easy to use and make additional income from. If you are someone who would love to resell your clothing and other items online Vinted is a great place to start.
Buying Items on Vinted

To buy items on Vinted you have to register to set up your account with the required details and information to get started.
You can type in the relevant words in the search bar and that should give you a list of all the relevant listings that match those words. I also like adding in the size and price range I’m looking for to reduce the amount of items that are shown which don’t fit my requirements.
Checking reviews is a good idea to find out if you are dealing with a good buyer or seller. (I always give 5 stars and good reviews unless I’ve had a bad experience.)
To find better deals, you can also look for bundled discounts where you get discounts on buying more than one product or save on shipping. In certain scenarios, the shipping cost would exceed the product cost and this is when you can use bundled discounts to buy more items at the same shipping cost.
Selling Items on Vinted

If you don’t know how to make money on Vinted you don’t have to worry much because unlike other selling apps like Depop, Vinted has a fairly simple and easy process.
The selling process begins with you listing the item you want to sell.
So, you click on Sell and it brings up the options to upload photos, add a title and description.
Uploading Images – I recommend uploading well-lit photographs of the item you want to sell. Various sellers use props and mannequins to make their products pop better, but even just a nice background with bright lighting is plenty.
Always ensure that the color is well represented in your pictures. If your clothing has marks or anything click pictures of that as well, so the buyer knows what to expect.
You can also add videos to your listing to improve your chances of selling the item.
Writing Title and Description – Once you are done with upload images you need to write a good title that tells the buyer what the product is. Include “key words” here to describe the item.
Write a description that inspires the buyer to buy the product along with important details about the product. Think of adding “ways to wear” or items that will go with it to help your buyer imagine themself wear it.
Add relevant information like Brand, Category, and Condition.
While the app will choose the color based on your description you can change the color of the product.
You may finally want to add the price you want to sell it at. Always browse for similar products and see at what price other sellers are selling similar items.
Vinted also has a swap feature where you can swap items of the same value with other sellers. This can help you exchange products and not use your money to buy.
Shipping your items.
This is what I love the most about the platform, how easy it is to sell! Once the item is sold, it is time to pack the item for shipping. I try and use gift wrapping papers and bags to make the buyers feel nice that they have received the product. I also re-use delivery bags that I get from other sellers when I’ve bought from Vinted.
Receiving Payment on Vinted

This is such a seamless transaction and I love it.
How to Use Vinted to Buy and Sell Clothes and Make Money
So, you might be wondering how to make money on Vinted once you’ve listed and sold items; let me talk through how the payment is received once the item is sold.
When the buyer makes the payment the money is stored on the Vinted payment service provider. However, sellers can see it under Pending Balance.
Once the buyer receives the product and okays the order the payment is released and the seller can see the payment under Available Balance.
Then, the sellers can withdraw the money to their bank account associated with the Vinted account or use that to buy items on Vinted. Simple!! I find it really safe, just keep your shipping receipts as proof of postage.
Have you ever sold anything on Vinted? This is just my personal experience so feel free to leave your own in the comments to give a full perspective of it!
